INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has two nationally-ranked programs going into Week 8 of the season following the release of the American Football Coaches Association’s Top-25 Poll on Monday.
Coincidentally, those two teams will clash on Saturday as No. 17 Tiffin looks to continue its undefeated path down a tricky path at home against defending champion and new No. 25 Ohio Dominican.
The Dragons are 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the league schedule after being ranked No. 22 in through Week 7. Tiffin jumped from the ranks of receiving votes to become the third Great Midwest program to make an appearance in the poll this season.
Ohio Dominican returns to the national rankings since being slotted at No. 12 heading into Week 3.
The Panthers have found their footing following a loss to Hillsdale and have won four straight. ODU heads into Week 8 with a 6-1 record and 4-1 mark in the conference standings.
Super Region 1 has been wild this fall with the Great Midwest vying for NCAA Championship seeding along with the Mountain East Conference, Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference and Northeast-10 Conference.
No. 14 Notre Dame (OH) is the lone unbeaten from the MEC and every other team has at least two losses, including last year’s No. 2 seed, Shepherd. Also saddled with two losses is last year’s top seed, Indiana (PA), as the East Division of the PSAC is being run by No. 15 Kutztown and No. 12 West Chester, both at 6-0.
Checking in on the NE-10 shows that No. 20 LIU Post is unbeaten at 6-0 while New Haven and Assumption, Findlay’s second-round playoff opponent in 2017, each have one defeat.
