INDIANAPOLIS – Another NCAA Championships qualifier, this time Findlay junior Alonzo Turner (Painesville, OH / Harvey HS), was selected as Great Midwest Athletic Conference Wrestling Athlete of the Week for the season on Monday.
 
Turner, ranked sixth nationally at 165 pounds, helped the No. 16 Oilers come away with a perfect showing out in Colorado. The Oilers beat No. 17 Western State, New Mexico Highlands, Colorado Mesa and Adams State.
 
Turner upped his overall record to 18-7 on the season, enjoyed a 4-0 record on the day that included a signature win against No. 9 ranked Ryan Pellow of Western State. He scored a 10-3 decision over Pellow.
 
Turner recorded a pin, major decision and two decisions to summarize his scoring at the Tracy Borah Duals in Gunnison, Colo.

He was an NCAA All-American last season as a sophomore while placing sixth in his weight class at the national championships.
