INDIANAPOLIS – Cedarville senior guard Patrick Bain (Tipp City, OH / Bethel HS) netted Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week honors on Monday morning as announced by the league.

This is the second career conference weekly honor for Bain, who helped the Yellow Jackets (8-6, 3-4 G-MAC) collect two road Great Midwest victories at Malone and Ohio Dominican.

Competition for the eight playoff spots remains fierce through the second half of the conference schedule as No. 21 Findlay (16-2, 10-0 G-MAC) leads the way at the top of the standings.

The Oilers have won 12 straight and are trailed by Hillsdale and Walsh, each with two Great Midwest losses. A three-way tie has formed in the middle as Alderson Broaddus, Lake Erie and Kentucky Wesleyan are each 4-3.

Cedarville is just one game away from .500 in conference play while Malone still has a strong record at 10-6 while trying to get tracked for postseason contention. Ohio Dominican is still in the mix, Trevecca and Davis & Elkins earned their first conference victories and Ohio Valley continues to try and reserve its fortunes in a current 10-game slide.

Bain continues to climb through the conference career scoring leaders, passing D&E’s Wesley Sprinkle to move into sixth all-time. Bain now has 1,147 points in his career since 2014 and additionally ranks fourth in field goals made with 423.

The Yellow Jackets rode a pair of 30+ outbursts as Bain erupted for a career-high 35 points at Ohio Dominican and freshman forward Conner TenHove blew up for 30 against Malone on 13-of-18 shooting.

In the two Cedarville wins, Bain shot almost 55 percent from the floor while averaging 23.5 points, 7 assists, 5.5 rebounds and even two blocks, per game.

He contributed 12 points, seven assists, five rebounds and three rejections vs. Malone before his personal-best scoring output at ODU on 13-of-22 shooting with four three pointers. He also had seven more assists in a 75-68 final.

Bain is now second in the league in scoring (20.9 ppg) only behind Malone’s Ty Jordan (21.1 ppg). He ranks fifth in field goal percentage (.509) and is seventh in assists.
