INDIANAPOLIS - The D2Football.com All-America Team was announced with the Great Midwest Athletic Conference earning recognition in the form of two players from two different institutions.

Findlay senior Andrew Alten was named to the D2Football.com Second Team after helping lead the Oilers to a 10-3 record as well as a playoff victory over Shepherd.

The 6-2, 308 pound senior offensive lineman also received accolades as Great Midwest Offensive Lineman of the Year as well as receiving First Team All-America honors from the AFCA and Second Team All-America honors by the D2CCA.

His efforts helped anchor an elite offense that ranked first in the conference in scoring, total offensive yards, and rushing yards. The Oilers had over 1,500 more total yards of offense than anyone else in the conference last season and ranked among the best in the nation in yards per game, points per game, and first downs ranking fourth, third, and second in the country respectively.

Receiving honorable mention status for D2Football.com All-American Team was Ohio Dominican’s Grant Russell. The senior quarterback finished off one of the most prolific careers in school history by leading the Panthers to seven consecutive victories to close out the season en route to winning the second offering of the Great Midwest Football championship.

Russell finished the season ranked 11th in all of Division II in passing yards as well as 10th in passing touchdowns. He also threw only three interceptions in 10 games, proving to be the most efficient passer in the country while ranking first in both completion percentage and passing efficiency.

Russell led the conference in all of those categories as well as he was selected Great Midwest Player of the Year.
