INDIANAPOLIS – Repeat selections for both Findlay and Hillsdale were chosen for Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
Student-athletes around the league continue to post provisional and auto-qualifying marks while establishing some of the top times/distances in the country.
Track Athlete of the Week
Hannah McIntyre
Hillsdale
Distance
Senior
Colorado Springs, CO (Palmer HS)
McIntyre was also named the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week for Division II after she starred in the 5K this weekend at the Grand Valley State-hosted Mike Lints Alumni Open.
She recorded the nation’s fastest time with a new conference record 16:23.65 and auto qualified for nationals, just one of two to do so this year.
McIntyre has almost 10 seconds of time between NCAA DII’s second-best time from Mount Olive’s Leah Hanle and she blew the door off the previous Great Midwest record by about 30 seconds total.
McIntyre has also provisionally qualified for nationals in the 3K, currently sporting NCAA DII’s fifth-best time of the year.
She is now a three-time Great Midwest Athlete of the Week this year, including twice in indoor track and field and once during the cross country season.
Field Athlete of the Week
Alex DeVincentis
Findlay
Throws
Senior
Findlay, OH (Liberty Benton HS)
For the second week in a row, DeVincentis flexed her muscle in the throws cage to earn back-to-back field athlete of the week honors, this time at the Findlay Classic & Elite Throws event.
DeVincentis broke her own conference record in the shot put with a distance of 15.18m (49’ 9.75”). She had bettered her mark of 15.07m set just one week ago at the Tiffin Dragon Open.
Another provisional qualifying standard in the shot put has the senior Oiler ranked sixth nationally in the event. She placed fifth in the event and also competed in the weight throw.
