INDIANAPOLIS – Alderson Broaddus freshman Gino Sita (Huntingtown, MD / Huntingtown HS) was announced as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Wrestling Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
Sita is the very first Battlers’ grappler to claim conference athlete of the week honors.
AB competed at the 38th annual Builders Championship hosted by The Apprentice School in Virginia.
Sita dominated his weight class en route to an individual title at 174 pounds. He recorded a technical fall and two decisions while upping his overall record to 25-2 as a rookie for Alderson Broaddus.
In the quarterfinal round, Sita scored the tech fall over Corbin Ryder from Averett in 2:55 with a final score of 18-3. In the semis, he scored a 3-1 decision from Jeremy Moseley of the host institution.
In the first-place match, Sita took down John Prentice of Penn State-Dubois by a count of 4-1.
