INDIANAPOLIS – For the Division II women’s ranks, Cedarville’s sophomore goalkeeper Allison Garlock was named the United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week in a Tuesday announcement.
Garlock is the first student-athlete from the Great Midwest to receive national soccer weekly honors from United Soccer Coaches, formerly the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America).
Garlock is fresh off of her first Great Midwest Defensive Player of the Week award after pitching two shutouts against Midwest Region opponents as the Yellow Jackets blanked Saginaw Valley State (GLIAC) and Lewis (GLVC).
The sophomore keeper is transitioning seamlessly after replacing 2016 G-MAC Defensive Player of the Year Hanna Harris in the starting lineup. Garlock played all possible 180 minutes in net and made a combined 11 saves.
Versus Saginaw Valley State, Garlock made five stops on 18 shots faced from the Cardinals’ offense. Her line was similar against Lewis as she stopped the Flyers with six saves on 15 shots.
The first two games of the season represented the fifth and sixth starts of her career. In 696 minutes, Garlock has a stellar 1.29 goals against average.
