INDIANAPOLIS – For the second straight week, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference has had a selection from United Soccer Coaches for the organization’s Division II National Player of the Week Award.
In a Tuesday announcement, Ohio Valley senior goalkeeper Carlos Rubio earned honors to represent the Great Midwest after Cedarville’s Allison Garlock earned a national selection on Sept. 5.
Ohio Valley received votes in United Soccer’s Week 2 Top-25 Coaches Poll and are currently ranked fourth in the Midwest Region by the same outlet.
Rubio recorded three shutouts against Cedarville, Northwood (MI) and No. 4 Saginaw Valley State. He made a combined eight saves as the Fighting Scots improved to 4-0-1 on the season.
Rubio tied the conference career record in shutouts with 17 following his clean sheet against SVSU on Sunday.
