INDIANAPOLIS – Ohio Valley and Ohio Dominican were recipient of Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer weekly honors as the league announced offensive and defensive winners on Tuesday.
A four-way logjam has formed at the top of the league standings in the first two weeks of the regular season.
Preseason No. 1 Trevecca, Ohio Valley, Ohio Dominican and Ursuline, each won their first Great Midwest games in the conference schedule.
Alderson Broaddus and reigning tournament champ Davis & Elkins battled to a scoreless draw while Walsh and Malone anxiously await their league opener after their contest was spoiled with second-half weather.

Giannou started off her collegiate career by scoring two goals and assisting on two more in a 10-0 home opener against University of Pikeville. At 17:56, she scored the first goal of her collegiate career, then less than three minutes later assisted on another one to Paula Valbuena.
In the second half, she scored her second goal of the game to put the Fighting Scots up 6-0, and finished up with an assist to Iona Rothfield at 62:35 in regulation.
She continued her offensive showcase on the road against conference foe Cedarville with yet another assist to Valbuena at 73:58 to put Ohio Valley up 2-0. It took her less than a minute after that to score one for herself, her third in two games.
The win against Cedarville was the first for OVU since joining the Great Midwest. The Fighting Scots are continuing to prove that it’s very hard to believe the program was struggling through a 1-15-1 record just one year ago.

The Panthers went 2-1 last week with some help from Story. She opened the week helping her defense to a 1-0 shutout of conference foe Findlay. The Oilers were held to just one shot on goal for the entire contest.
She also played a large role in a 4-2 Midwest Region win on the road against Northwood later in the week. She started off the scoring in the game with her first collegiate goal at the 18:28 mark to give Ohio Dominican a lead.
She also answered a Northwood goal with an assist at 42:05 as well, giving her three points in the contest.
Story also led a strong defensive charge that allowed only three shots on goal on the game. ODU also played against Saginaw Valley State in the week.
Story started all 19 games as a freshman for Ohio Dominican.
