Football Players of the Week (Sept. 12)

INDIANAPOLIS – Three more student-athletes were honored as Great Midwest Athletic Conference Football Players of the Week for offensive, defensive and special teams accomplishments on Monday morning.
 
Week 2 in the Great Midwest saw seven of the league’s eight teams in action as the young regular season continues.
 
Hillsdale (vs. Michigan Tech) and Kentucky Wesleyan (vs. Livingstone) emerged as winners in their respective contests. Alderson Broaddus fell at Quincy, Lake Erie dropped a home game against future member Tiffin and Walsh was blanked vs. Saginaw Valley State.
 
Findlay was outgunned against No. 2 Ferris State while Ohio Dominican went on the road and was defeated by Ashland.
 
Single-game records continue to be rewritten in many different categories as the conference grows in year two of being a championship sport.
 
Findlay earned conference offensive weekly honors for the second consecutive time while the wins from Hillsdale and Kentucky Wesleyan were recognized with defensive and special teams awards.
 
Great Midwest Offensive Player of the Week

Following in the footsteps of teammate and Week 1 offensive winner Daouda Sylla, Moore had his talents on display under the lights against a former GLIAC opponent and No. 2 Ferris State.
 
The talented junior wideout and Lindy’s Preseason All-American hauled in nine receptions for 125 yards and three touchdowns against a talented Bulldogs’ secondary.
 
All three touchdown catches were from 19 yards out as he tied a single-game conference record held by Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Keelan Cole, who had three TD’s in a game twice in 2016. The nine catches are the third-most in a single game.
 
Moore’s first touchdown opened up the Findlay scoring with a in the first quarter to cap a 77-yard drive. He also made scoring catches in the red zone in both the third and fourth quarters to aid the Oilers’ offensive cause.
 
Moore now has 1,918 career receiving yards at UF, just 24 yards shy of breaking into the top five all-time in the school record books. This season, he has 11 catches for 176 yards in two games played.

Hillsdale mounted a furious 17-point second-half comeback against in-state rival Michigan Tech and the Chargers’ staunch defensive holds went noticed during a thrilling 31-27 win at home.
 
Nehls was one of the ringleaders in the secondary for a defense that held the Huskies to just 19 total yards of offense in the fourth quarter while the Hillsdale offense rolled up 166 yards and scored touchdowns on three consecutive drives.
 
Nehls collected a team-high 10 tackles in the winning effort, including four solo and six assisted stops. He currently leads the Chargers this season in total tackles with 18.

Logsdon did his part and then some as the Panthers chalked up their first tally in the win column for 2017 against Livingstone.
 
The sophomore displayed his accuracy with a perfect 4-for-4 effort on PAT’s and drilled a 41-yard field goal, tied for the second longest in the conference this season with Walsh’s Kasey Tingler. He is now 5-for-5 on PAT’s including the team’s season opener against Murray State.
 
Logsdon also averaged 48 yards on six kickoffs to total 293 yards and help KWC win the battle for field position.
