Cedarville Receives Votes in AVCA Preseason Coaches Poll

AVCA Preseason Coaches Poll (Aug. 14)

INDIANAPOLIS
– Defending Great Midwest Athletic Conference champion Cedarville received votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Preseason Coaches Poll that was released this week.
 
The Yellow Jackets tallied four total votes for a ranking of 41st overall in the country before the first match of the regular season.
 
Cedarville competed in the Blue division a year ago and with the expansion of the Great Midwest, will move to the West division for the upcoming fall.
 
The Yellow Jackets were 27-9 in a memorable 2016 run that included a postseason win in the NCAA Championship Midwest Region opening-round contest against Findlay. Cedarville went 9-1 within the conference schedule to capture the top seed in the G-MAC Championship conducted at Mason High School.
 
The Yellow Jackets took down Davis & Elkins in the conference tournament final for their fourth conference championship in five years.
 
Cedarville opens its season on Friday, September 1, with a pair of regional contests against GLIAC provisional member Davenport and No. 14 Ferris State, a team that went 30-6 in 2016.
 
The first AVCA Top-25 Coaches Poll for the regular season is scheduled to be released on Monday, September 4.
