INDIANAPOLIS – Trevecca Nazarene senior Alexa Rippy (Clarksville, Tenn.) was selected as the 2016-17 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Thursday following a vote from administrators around the league.
Regardless of sport, Rippy completed one of the most dominant four-year runs in Great Midwest history from the sport of women’s golf.
Rippy finished her collegiate career the best way possible with a trip to the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championship as an individual qualifier and a winner in five different events.
She became the first Great Midwest Golf student-athlete, male or female, to advance out of the NCAA DII Super Regional stage.
Rippy posted a league-leading 74.90 scoring average, including a low round of 69 (-3) this year. She was the medalist in the Great Midwest Championships that were held at Four Bridges Country Club as the Trojans won their fifth consecutive team title.
Rippy also graduated with a 3.8 GPA in accounting and plans to earn her CPA this year before beginning a career in corporate accounting.
She was a four-year Great Midwest Academic All-Conference Team selection and has represented her institution as a member of the student-athlete advisory committee.
