INDIANAPOLIS – A new-look website for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference,
www.GreatMidwestSports.com, has officially been launched by SIDEARM Sports as part of a rebranding effort by the league.
The new website showcases the expansion of the league with five schools set to become official member institutions effective on July 1. Findlay, Hillsdale, Lake Erie, Ohio Dominican and Walsh, are part of the movement while Tiffin announced its intention to join in the 2018-19 academic year.
The design is part of SIDEARM’s enhanced responsive platform model, which allows for better access of the conference news on different devices.
GreatMidwestSports.com highlights the use of a new primary logo through a partnership with Old Hat Creative Agency as part of the rebranding process. Additional secondary logos with school color customization, sport-specific logos, championship logos and wordmarks were also created to be unveiled in the near future.
The new primary logo includes more blue in the lettering, specifically with the word 'Midwest'.
Similar to the Mountain West, Big West, Pac West, or Great West conferences, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference is steering towards the primary use of ‘Great Midwest’ (G-MAC will not be utilized as much in previous years) heading into the fall.
Among the most noticeable changes include a scrolling scoreboard at the top of the home page that is sport-specific or sortable by school. The new ‘Member Updates’ section includes an updated feed of the newest stories on each institution’s official website.
Introduced for the first time this year will be the inaugural men’s and women’s swimming and diving conference championships while the expanded football league is bolstered with eight total members. Wrestling is an emerging sport in the league while men's lacrosse also gained a new associate member with Wheeling Jesuit joining for the 2018 spring campaign.
Access to the Great Midwest social media accounts for Twitter (greatmidwestac), Instagram (greatmidwestac) and Facebook, can be clicked on several spots throughout the website.
The all-sports scoreboard by date can still be accessed by visiting greatmidwestsports.com/scoreboard.
The conference is also working towards the formation of a digital network that would serve as a central hub for video streaming in time for the upcoming 2017-18 season. Updates will be available as details continue to come together.
