BRADENTON, Fla. -
Select Great Midwest Athletic Conference student-athletes will showcase their talents starting Thursday at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the IMG Academy.

There are a total of six Great Midwest NCAA qualifiers competing in seven different events.

From Cedarville, Daniel Michalski (3K steeplechase), Carsyn Koch (800-meter run) and Olivia Esbenshade (1,500-meter run) are looking to match their strong indoor national performances that resulted in DII All-American status.

Koch is now a three-time NCAA Division II national indoor/outdoor champion in the 800-meter distance. She will be looking to make it four straight atop the podium while sporting the top time in the country at 2:02.87 from the Dr. Keeler Invitational on May 11.

Thanks to his 8:52.01 effort at the Bryan Clay Invite, Michalski ranks fourth nationally in the 3K steeplechase. Esbenshade, the 2017 Great Midwest Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, sports the 14th-best time in the 1,500-meter run.

Malone's Ashton Dulin (400-meter hurdles) and Duke Taylor (discus) were respectively voted and swept Great Midwest Indoor/Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Year honors in the men's competition.

Taylor heads into the national event ranking third in the discus throw (56.62m at the GVSU 2nd to Last Chance Meet). Dulin heads into his first national appearance ranking 12th in the 400-meter hurdles; his best time of 52.06 was at the Jesse Owens Classic.

Ursuline's sophomore standout Janelle Perry is entered in both the 100-meter hurdles and the long jump. She ranks 14th and 13th, respectively, in both events among all Division II student-athletes this spring.

Perry, Esbenshade, Michalski and Dulin, are scheduled to compete on Thursday in either preliminary rounds or finals of their events.

The conference already had a record total of 11 NCAA Division II All-Americans crowned during the indoor national championships that were conducted at Birmingham, Ala.

Also notable are the number of student-athletes that will be representing future Great Midwest schools, including four for 2017-18 and one that will be joining the league in 2018-19.

On the men's side there are total of 17 combined entries from Tiffin (11 including one relay), Findlay (3), Hillsdale (2) and Walsh (1). For the women, there are also 17 total entries from the likes of Findlay (6), Hillsdale (5 including one relay), Walsh (3), Tiffin (2) and Lake Erie (1).
