BLUE ASH, Ohio – As part of the 2017 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Spring Awards Banquet, Trevecca Nazarene’s Ben Moroney was present with family to receive the Male Collegiate Achievement Award at the Cooper Creek Event Center.
Moroney is the third recipient of the prestigious achievement after an impressive four-year career as a student-athlete in both cross country and indoor/outdoor track and field.
Moroney gave an acceptance speech to the room filled with administrators, members of the student-athlete advisory committee and his fiancée, an accomplished former soccer student-athlete in her own right, Abbie Alosi.
Other winners of the Great Midwest Male Collegiate Achievement Award include Marcus Reineke (men’s basketball) of Cedarville in 2015 and Benjamin Tuttle (cross country/track and field) of Cedarville in 2016.
The following excerpt regarding Moroney’s career accomplishments was published in the banquet program. A PDF of the program can be viewed by clicking

The NCAA Division II mantra is “Make It Yours” and Moroney, a two-sport student-athlete, has made the collegiate experience in Nashville certainly his.
While running both cross country and track and field for the Trojans with captaincy, Moroney has been disciplined to balance school, athletics, academics (four-time All-Academic Team), his spiritual and social life.
He was the 2016 G-MAC Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year and has established himself as one of the best 10K, 5K and 3K event runners in the conference’s growing history.
In cross country he also flourished, earning first-team all-conference honors by virtue of his placing in all four years. He was seventh as a freshman, third as a sophomore and junior and fourth as a senior at the G-MAC Championships.
Moroney’s next step in life is an exciting one after his acceptance into the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at Tennessee State University with his 3.71 GPA at TNU. He recently graduated with his undergrad degree in Exercise Science and is excited to give back and help younger athletes and other people rehab from injuries.
