INDIANAPOLIS – Kentucky Wesleyan’s Lexie Mullen and Jessica Carmon were named the final Great Midwest Athletic Conference Softball Players of the Week for the 2017 season on Monday.

Mullen and Carmon were instrumental in helping the Panthers win their first Great Midwest conference tournament title, secure the program’s first NCAA Championship Midwest Regional appearance and tie the school’s single-season win record.

Mullen brought the thunder in her bat in the conference tournament, terrorizing pitching for four games with three home runs and 13 RBI.

She swatted a pair of three-run shots and blasted a grand slam against Trevecca Nazarene as she finished her rookie season as the conference league leader in homers.

In the title game, Mullen was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBI.

Mullen finished her first collegiate season as a .295 hitters with 11 doubles and 48 runs driven in. She scored 34 runs and was primarily the team’s cleanup hitter for the majority of the season.

Carmon delivered a complete game shutout to cap KWC’s perfect conference tournament run against Davis & Elkins. She improved to 4-4 on the year with just four hits spread out through seven scoreless innings.

Carmon recorded one strikeout as the KWC offense backed her with six runs of support through the first three innings. Carmon put together a 3.75 ERA in 61.2 innings pitched this season.
