NCAA DII Release - Championship Field

INDIANAPOLIS
– From Canton and now on to Findlay, the historic postseason journey for Trevecca Nazarene senior standout Alexa Rippy will culminate on the biggest stage of college women’s golf at the NCAA Division II Championships on May 17-20.

Rippy was part of a select group to qualify as one of the top three individuals not with a team from each super regional.

The three-time Great Midwest Championship medalist and three-time Great Midwest Player of the Year played the 54-hole NCAA DII East Super Regional with precision at Glenmoor Country Club.

Rippy posted a three-round total of 219 (75-73-71) to finish in fourth overall of 66 competitors.

The NCAA DII East Super Regional was hosted by incoming Great Midwest member institution Walsh University at the par-72 course with yardage at 6,197.

The championships will be hosted by another future 2017-18 Great Midwest school as the University of Findlay serves as this year’s host.

The final field from four super regionals features 72 total student-athletes with 12 individuals and 12 teams. Rippy will be joined in the field from the East Super Regional along with Camden Morrison of Franklin Pierce and Alex Trask of William Jewell.

Rippy is the first golf student-athlete, male or female, to advance to the final round of the championships, which will be conducted over a four-day span.

Earlier in the spring, Rippy, a senior from Clarksville, Tenn., helped guide the Trojans to their fifth consecutive conference tournament team title. She led the league in scoring average for the third consecutive season at 75.22 and won a total of five events.

The 1-under 71 carded in the final day of competition at the super regional was her third round of even par or better this season.

Reigning NCAA Division II team champion Indianapolis won the East Super Regional followed by Grand Valley State and Missouri-St. Louis. Findlay finished fourth in the team standings as the super regional was comprised of teams from the G-MAC, GLVC, GLIAC and Mountain East Conferences.

Rippy has advanced to the NCAA East Super Regional for three consecutive seasons. All 12 bids in each region were at-large selections with no automatic qualifiers for conference champs in the sport of women’s golf.
