INDIANAPOLIS – Cedarville senior Olivia Esbenshade and Kentucky Wesleyan junior Crystal Hopkins were named Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Monday.
Esbenshade, a native of Marietta, Pa., placed third in the 800 meters at Ohio State University's Jesse Owens Track Classic in 2:10.11.
It was the second-fastest time she's ever run. Her PR of 2:09.11 ran earlier in the season in California met the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard and currently ranks 15th in the country.
Esbenshade was the 2017 G-MAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year and 2016 G-MAC Cross Country Runner of the Year.
Hopkins established a new conference record in the hammer throw, reaching 51.82-meters for a first-place finish. Hopkins took down her own mark from earlier this season of 48.72-meters.
Hopkins also tabbed a third-place finish in the shot put with a distance of 12.34 meters
