G-MAC Softball Players of the Week (April 24)

4.27.17

INDIANAPOLIS – Malone’s Madison Corrick and Davis & Elkins’ Allie Lapallo were named Great Midwest Athletic Conference Softball Players of the Week on Monday.

The final weekend of the regular season will be pivotal for both the Pioneers and Senators as they look to advance into the six-team conference tournament.

Corrick was on a torrid seven-game hit streak for her first of what could be many conference accolades as G-MAC Player of the Week. The Pioneers faced Ursuline and Alderson Broaddus in conference play along with future league member Walsh in a home doubleheader.

The homegrown product from Canton put up one of the best stat lines on April 21 by completing the cycle. She was a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI.

Corrick doubled in her first at-bat and drove in a pair with a two-run single in the second inning. In the top of the fourth she legged out a run-scoring triple and completed the cycle by going yard with a two-run blast in the sixth inning.

The next day, she was a home run shy of accomplishing the feat twice in as many days. She went 4-for-5 with a single, double and triple, leading off the Pioneers’ lineup.

She completed the week with a .643 batting average (18-for-28) with 10 RBI, five doubles, three triples, six runs scored and a homer. She had a slugging percentage of 1.143 and sported an on-base percentage of .655.

Lapallo appeared in three games over the past week and had a perfect 3-0 win-loss record in the circle for the Senators. She logged 18.2 innings and struck out 17 while compiling a 0.38 ERA.

The junior went seven full innings for the complete-game effort against Alderson Broaddus with five strikeouts. D&E gave her just enough run support in a close 2-1 final.

She also provided 4.2 frames of scoreless ball against West Virginia Tech and tossed a complete-game shutout against Ohio Valley back in league play in a 4-0 blanking. She fanned four Fighting Scots and scattered three hits while walking none.

Lapallo is establishing herself in the career record books. She ranks second all-time in ERA (2.34), appearances (94), games started (78), shutouts (14), wins (50) and innings pitched (523.2). Her opponent batting average of .246 ranks fifth along with strikeouts (242).
