INDIANAPOLIS – Davis & Elkins freshman David Magda and Ohio Valley freshman Hunter Nolan were named Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Monday.
Magda and Nolan both helped lead their respective schools to start the outdoor season at the Charleston-hosted Golden Eagle Invitational.
Magda was runner-up in a pair of events, the 800 and 1,500-meter distances with times of 1:59.65 and 4:11.89.
After a strong cross country season for the Senators that included all-conference honors, Magda showed himself well during the indoor track season with a top-four finish in the mile and runner-up effort as part of the 4x400-meter relay at the G-MAC Championships.
His 800 and 1,500-meter times are currently the best in the conference for the 2017 outdoor season.
Nolan was one of handful of throwers to compete at the Golden Eagle Invitational and is currently sporting the best distances in the league to debut the spring in shot put and discus events.
He made his indoor debut in December for the Fighting Scots and turned in a fifth-place shot put effort in his first college meet.
Another pair of top-10 finishes in the Marietta Open helped him finish ninth in shot put at the G-MAC Championships not too long ago.
