INDIANAPOLIS – Back-to-back Great Midwest Athletic Conference champion Kentucky Wesleyan is part of the NCAA DII Men’s Basketball Championship field following the traditional selection show on Sunday night.
 
The Panthers (28-2) will be traveling to Louisville for the Midwest Regional to play on Saturday, March 11, at 8:30 p.m. EST. KWC was one of 24 automatic qualifiers in the tournament field of 64 spanning eight regions across the country.
 
Kentucky Wesleyan will be playing as the No. 4 seed in this year’s regional and will face No. 5 Quincy of the Great Lakes Valley Conference in the opening round.
 
The Panthers completed an undefeated regular-season run through the league schedule and won two games in the conference tournament to extend their home win streak in the Owensboro Sportscenter to 48 straight – the longest active NCAA streak.
 
KWC is entering the national tournament with its sights set on a ninth NCAA Championship in the program’s storied history. The Panthers have won 26 straight and recently toppled Alderson Broaddus in the G-MAC Championship game on Saturday.
 
Last year, Kentucky Wesleyan was the No. 8 seed in the Midwest Regional at Wisconsin-Parkside. KWC is currently ranked seventh in the latest NABC Top-25 Coaches Poll.
 
Bellarmine of the GLVC will serve as this year’s regional host. The winner of Kentucky Wesleyan/Wisconsin-Parkside would play Bellarmine in the second round of regional play.
 
Other first-round matchups in the NCAA DII Midwest Regional include No. 2 Ferris State of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) versus No. 7 Truman State of the GLVC. Southern Indiana (GLVC) will go up against incoming G-MAC member school Findlay as the Oilers earned the No. 6 seed.
