INDIANAPOLIS – Malone combo Ashton Dulin and Duke Taylor were both named Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Monday.

The Pioneers debuted their spring season at the Amy Adams Memorial Invitational hosted by Muskingum over the weekend.

Dulin, the G-MAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year and Taylor, a DII indoor All-American and G-MAC Field Athlete of the Year, both set respective conference records in new events.

The 400-meter hurdles G-MAC record was actually broken twice over the weekend as Alderson Broaddus’ sophomore Paris Vaughan bettered his own time (the previous conference record) along with Dulin.

Dulin clocked a 53.85 to claim the league’s best time. Vaughan was at 54.07 and the previous record entering the weekend stood at 54.95 from the AB sophomore’s freshman year.

Taylor obliterated a pair of throwing records with the discus and hammer throw standards both being shattered.

Taylor provisionally qualified for nationals in both events and currently is No. 2 in NCAA DII in the discus throw and ranks 15th overall in the hammer throw through the weekend’s events.

Taylor’s new record is over 10 meters longer than the previous best. He had an attempt of 54.20 meters.

The hammer throw record was broken in similar fashion following a 57.07m recorded try. The previous record was 48.38m.
