INDIANAPOLIS – Cedarville’s Carsyn Koch and Tiera Martinelli were both named Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Monday.

The Yellow Jackets competed at the Joe Banks Invitational in Ada, Ohio, this past Saturday hosted by Ohio Northern University.

Koch competed and won the 800-meter run with an automatic qualifying time for nationals of 2:07. She was also part of the 4x400-meter relay team that posted the top time around the G-MAC this season.

It also represented the top time in the country so far around Division II as she aims to repeat a national title in the event.

Koch also holds the NCAA Division II Record for the 800-meter run with a 2:05.12 mark set at the NCAA Indoor Championships last year.

Martinelli competed in the pole Vault and finished with an attempt clearance of 3.37m (11’ 0.75) to set a new conference best height. She bested her previous standard of 3.35m at the Cedarville Collegiate Indoor Invitational on Jan. 27.

Cedarville hits the track again next Friday and Saturday when they travel to Allendale, Mich., for the Grand Valley State Big Meet.
