INDIANAPOLIS – The familiar names of junior Carsyn Koch (Cedarville) and sophomore Janelle Perry (Ursuline) were picked as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Monday.
The regular season officially closed in the past week of competition as everyone now gets ready for the G-MAC Indoor T&F Championships on Saturday at Cedarville’s Doden Field House.
Cedarville competed at the Findlay Meet For Everyone! while the Arrows were split as Perry competed at the Greater Cleveland Championships.
Koch and Perry have both been three-time recipients of the indoor weekly honor for the current 2016-17 season.
Koch set a blistering pace in the mile, officially automatically qualifying for the Division II Championships in her third event to go along with the 800m and the distance medley relay.
She clocked a 4:44.74 for the now fifth-ranked Lady Jackets to set a new G-MAC record and school record. It also ranks as the third-fastest mile across Division II this year.
Teammate Olivia Esbenshade also crossed the finish line with an automatic-qualifying time in the mile in the same meet. Koch now possesses the top four mile times in conference indoor history.
Perry was getting tuned up for the G-MAC Championships after she shattered her own long jump record with an attempt of 5.85m (over 19 feet). She has dominated the event in conference history, owning all top 10 marks recorded.
The auto mark for the long jump is 6.10m.
