INDIANAPOLIS – Kentucky Wesleyan’s Autumn Grady and Davis & Elkins’ Danielle Norton were tabbed for Great Midwest Athletic Conference Softball Players of the Week as announced on Monday.
Grady earned G-MAC Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive time while Norton garnered G-MAC Player of the Week honors.
Grady, a sophomore pitcher for the Panthers, went above and beyond to help deliver a KWC regional win against Truman State. Grady pitched eight full innings and gave up just one run on six hits while striking out six.
She lowered her season ERA down to 1.50 and is now 2-0 on the spring as the Panthers stand at 4-4 overall through the first two weeks of the year.
Norton helped D&E win three out of four to start the spring as the Senators went on the road against St. Andrews and Fayetteville State.
Norton batted .308 (7-for-13) in three games with two home runs and seven RBI. After being out of the lineup in the opener, Norton belted a three-run blast in the eighth inning of game two against St. Andrews for her first hit.
In the finale of the twinbill against Fayetteville State, Norton launched her second homer of the week and finished 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI.
She was the league leader in doubles a year ago (21) and tied for the league lead in total hits (72).
