NCAA DII Midwest Region WBB Rankings (Feb. 15)
INDIANAPOLIS – Ursuline checked in at No. 4 in the first edition of the NCAA DII Midwest Region Women’s Basketball Rankings that was released on Wednesday.
The Arrows have enjoyed a phenomenal run in the 2016-17 regular season to date that includes a 13-game win streak and a perfect 11-0 record in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
Ursuline made its presence last year representing the G-MAC, throwing a scare into top seed and region host Ashland when the Arrows were the No. 8 seed in the Midwest Regional.
The Arrows are reigning G-MAC regular-season and tourney champs.
The Midwest Region women’s basketball rankings are put together by respective regional advisory committees around the country. The G-MAC is considered for the Midwest Region along with the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).
Ursuline has pieced together a 19-5 overall record so far, including a 19-3 in-region record. In addition to the 11 league wins, the Arrows have toppled the likes of Wayne State (GLIAC), Ferris State (GLIAC), incoming G-MAC member Lake Erie, Tiffin (GLIAC) and Saint Joseph’s (GLVC).
Ashland, the No. 1 ranked team in the country, leads the Midwest Region Poll followed by Drury and Saginaw Valley State as the top three. Lewis, Michigan Tech and Bellarmine round out the top eight while incoming G-MAC member Ohio Dominican is ranked at No. 10.
