Ohio Dominican Trio Receives CoSIDA Academic All-American Team Honors

AUSTIN, Texas - The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released its Academic All-America Division II Women’s Soccer Teams on Wednesday and feature three members of Great Midwest Athletic Conference institution Ohio Dominican.

Ohio Dominican matched Grand Valley State with three selections, the most of any school across Division II in the first, second and third-team lists. 
 
The Panthers finished second in the conference tournament and made it all the way to the NCAA Championship Midwest Region semifinals after beating McKendree in the opening round. ODU's final season record was 16-5-2. 
 
Offensive threats Lauren Bates and Alli Pavlik were each named to the CoSIDA Academic All-American First Team.
 
Bates finished fifth in the conference in both goals per game and points per game to go along with second place in goals and third in points. The senior Physician Assistant studies major was named to multiple all-region teams (D2CCA, United Soccer Coaches) and was also named to the D2CCA All-America First Team.
 
Pavlik finished her senior season tied for fifth in goals in the conference and tied for seventh in points. She was also named to the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Second Team and was clutch with six game-winning goals.
 
Rounding out representation for the conference was Ohio Dominican’s goalkeeper, junior Marissa Wierzbicki. Wierzbicki was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-American Third Team after she was also named a first-team all-conference selection by the league’s coaches.
 
Twenty-eight of the 33 members of the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II Women’s Soccer teams have at least a 3.90 G.P.A., with 14 student-athletes maintaining a perfect 4.00 GPA. The 12 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.93.
