INDIANAPOLIS – Ohio Dominican senior forward Sarah Futscher (Wilder, KY / Bishop Brossart HS) was tabbed the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Futscher and the Panthers (4-2, 1-0 G-MAC) made their presence felt on a national scale and the conference level with wins against No. 4 California (PA) and a road victory in the program’s first Great Midwest game.

ODU convincingly beat the fourth-ranked Vulcans, the G-MAC’s top-ranked opponent beaten, by an 18-point margin at home.

The Panthers then made the trip to Vienna, W.Va., where they emerged with a 15-point win at Ohio Valley.

Futscher nearly averaged a double-double (15.5 ppg, 9 rpg) in both games as she played a key role in helping the program secure both wins. She also shot over 58 percent from the field and averaged 1.5 assists.

Futscher scored 18 points against a then-unbeaten California (PA) squad on 8-of-15 shooting and grabbed nine boards, including three on the offensive glass. She also had a steal and two assists.

The 6-foot forward then poured in 13 points in just 14 minutes of court time in her first conference game, making 6-of-9 her nine attempts from the floor and pulling down seven more rebounds.

In six games, Futscher is averaging 12.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, both top-20 marks in the conference this season. Her field goal percentage of .566 is currently third among all players.
