INDIANAPOLIS – By virtue of wrapping up the tournament title, Ohio Valley earned the final selections for Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Players of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
The Fighting Scots are hosting the NCAA Championship Midwest Regional with the No. 1 seed as the program is making its first national tournament appearance.
OVU defeated No. 2 seed Davis & Elkins for the school’s first-ever conference championship trophy (of any sport) on Saturday. Ohio Valley waits for the winner of No. 4 Davis & Elkins and No. 5 Saginaw Valley State for a Sunday matchup in Charleston, W.Va.
Ohio Valley eliminated Cedarville in the semifinals of the Great Midwest Championship bracket before improving to 17-1-3 after Saturday’s win.

Segovia, one of five Fighting Scots to make the Great Midwest All-Conference Second Team, scored one goal and had three assists as OVU beat Cedarville and Davis & Elkins.
The crafty sophomore scored and assisted two other goals in the semifinal win vs. Cedarville in a 4-0 final.
He also assisted one goal in the team’s 3-1 win over D&E in the conference championship final.
Segovia heads into the national tournament ranked second in the league in total points with 30. His balanced stat sheet has 10 goals and 10 assists on the season.

Diaz contributed at both ends of the pitch to help the Fighting Scots finish off their perfect postseason run in the conference tournament.
While helping hold Cedarville and Davis & Elkins to a combined one goal (OVU outscored, 7-1), Diaz scored twice in the championship final.
He converted a penalty kick and scored the first goal of the game in the 35th minute.
