INDIANAPOLIS – Findlay senior heavyweight Mimmo Lytle (Swanton, OH / Swanton / Kent State) was selected as the second Great Midwest Athletic Conference Wrestling Athlete of the Week for the season on Tuesday morning.

The Oilers are currently ranked 12th in the InterMat Wrestle team rankings and Lytle is ranked ninth among all heavyweight grapplers in Division II.

Lytle dominated his weight class at the Findlay Open over the weekend with a 5-0 record to take first place in the 285-pound bracket.

His first match resulted in a decision over Division I wrestler Matthew Lloyd from Michigan State, a 6-0 score. He advanced to the second round and pinned Travis Schemling from Gannon in just under 90 seconds.

Lytle faced a tough challenge in the quarterfinals against No. 10 Division II ranked Deaken McCoy from Ashland. Lytle scored a 9-3 decision to continue his run through the championship bracket.

In the semifinals, Lytle registered a major decision against Terrance Fanning of Wheeling Jesuit to set up a showdown for first. The senior put a win in his season column, albeit by forfeit over the top-ranked NCAA DII heavyweight Kameron Teacher of Notre Dame (OH).

Summing up the tourney, Lytle had two decisions, a major decision, a pin and a default to win his weight class title.
