Four Teams Advance to Friday’s Great Midwest Championship Semifinals

HILLSDALE, Mich.
– As a result of all decisions in straight sets, four teams advanced into the semifinals of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship bracket on Thursday in Hillsdale’s Dawn Tibbetts Potter Arena.
 
Four quarterfinals were completed as No. 2 Findlay (West) and No. 1 Lake Erie (East) each won along with No. 2 Walsh (East) and No. 1 Hillsdale (West).
 
On Friday evening, Findlay and Lake Erie will meet in the early semifinal at 5 p.m. ET while Hillsdale and Walsh will tangle in the nightcap with a 7:30 p.m. ET start.
 
Coverage of all Great Midwest Volleyball Championship matches will continue on the Great Midwest Digital Network.
 
All four remaining institutions in the eight-team championship bracket are in their first year of competition with the Great Midwest.
 
Findlay defeated No. 3 Malone (East) in the opener while Lake Erie eliminated No. 4 Kentucky Wesleyan (West). Walsh ousted defending conference tournament champion Cedarville, the No. 3 seed from the West. Hillsdale swept No. 4 Davis & Elkins (East) in the nightcap.
 
The winners of Friday’s contests will face off in the Great Midwest Championship final on Saturday at 4:00 pm ET with the winner taking home the tournament trophy along with an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship Midwest Regional.
