INDIANAPOLIS – Eight teams are in playoff contention for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship, which starts Thursday and runs through Saturday at Hillsdale’s Dawn Tibbetts Potter Arena.
Four quarterfinals on Thursday, Nov. 16, will be followed by the semifinal round on Friday before a new champion is crowned on Saturday afternoon.
The volleyball championship banquet will kick things tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. ET on Hillsdale’s campus at the Searle Center as the all-conference team, along with individual winners, is unveiled. Each head coach will also be able to provide thoughts on their program’s season to date.
Seeding for the tournament was done by the East and West Division. The top four seeds from each division qualified and the battle to survive and advance won’t be easy in either side of the bracket.
One half of the bracket features No. 1 Lake Erie (East), No. 2 Findlay (West), No. 3 Malone (East) and No. 4 Kentucky Wesleyan (West).
The other half includes No. 1 Hillsdale (West), No. 2 Walsh (East), No. 3 Cedarville (West) and No. 4 Davis & Elkins (East).
All seven matches will be streamed live with audio commentary and live stats on the Great Midwest Digital Network, available on apps for Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and androidtv. The official championship page can be viewed by clicking

Four teams debuting with the Great Midwest made the tournament in their first year of qualification. Defending conference tournament champion Cedarville and conference tourney runner-up Davis & Elkins remain threats with their experience on the postseason stage.
First-round matches will be played at noon, 2:30 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., all Eastern time scheduled starts. No. 3 Malone will take on No. 2 Findlay to start things off followed by No. 4 Kentucky Wesleyan facing No. 1 Lake Erie in the 2:30 p.m. matchup.
The early evening quarterfinal has No. 3 Cedarville taking on No. 2 Walsh while host Hillsdale will tangle with No. 4 Davis & Elkins in the nightcap.
Friday’s semifinals will start 5 and 7:30 p.m. ET while the championship match on Saturday will be played at 4 p.m. ET with the tournament trophy and NCAA Championship automatic qualifier at stake.
Cedarville and Findlay were each qualifiers in the NCAA Championship Midwest Regional in the 2016 season. They met in the opening round where the Yellow Jackets prevailed to advance to the second round.
