NCAA DII Championship Bracket
INDIANAPOLIS – As decided by the national committee, Findlay was one of 28 teams to receive a playoff berth in the NCAA Division II Football Championship following the selection show on Sunday evening.
The Oilers (9-2) were one of seven teams selected from Super Region One (Great Midwest Athletic Conference, Mountain East Conference, Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, Northeast-10 Conference).
Findlay was ranked fourth in the Super Region One rankings for three consecutive weeks before falling to Ohio Dominican in Saturday’s game that decided a Great Midwest champion. The Oilers are also ranked at No. 21 in the AFCA Poll and No. 24 in the D2Football.com Poll.
This is the first playoff appearance in the NCAA Championship bracket for Findlay football in the program’s history.
The Oilers’ opening-round opponent for Saturday, Nov. 18, is No. 2 seed Shepherd (10-0) from the Mountain East. The undefeated Rams average over 48 points per game with quarterback Connor Jessop accounting for nearly 3,300 yards passing and 38 TD’s.
A start time in Shepherdstown, W.Va., had not yet been announced at the time of release.
Other matchups in Super Region One include No. 3 Assumption (NE-10) vs. No. 6 California (PA) (PSAC) and No. 4 Shippensburg (PSAC) vs. No. 5 West Chester (PSAC). The top seed in the region is Indiana (PA).
Twelve first-round games will be conducted on the campus of one of the competing institutions. In addition, one team per super regional has earned a first-round bye. The first-round winners will all advance to the second round with games on the campus of one of the competing institutions. Second-round winners will meet in the quarterfinals at various campus sites. Quarterfinal winners will advance to play in the semifinals on the campus of one of the competing institutions. Seven teams selected per super regional make up the field of 28 teams.
