The Great Midwest has nine institutions in the field this year while the GLVC has 15 schools entered and the GLIAC will feature 12 programs.
No. 25 Findlay is the No. 1 seed for the Great Midwest in this year’s tournament field. The Oilers (16-2, 9-1 G-MAC) have an intriguing matchup from the start against the top GLVC seed and No. 3 nationally-ranked team, Lewis.
Hillsdale (15-3, 8-2 G-MAC) earned the No. 2 seed from the Great Midwest. Currently second in the West Division, the Chargers also have a nationally-ranked opponent to open the tournament against No. 7 Ferris State. Hillsdale also faces future Great Midwest institution Tiffin on Friday.
Tied for the East Division lead with Malone is No. 3 G-MAC tourney seed Walsh (14-4, 8-2 G-MAC). The Cavaliers face Davenport (GLIAC), Rockhurst (GLVC) and a program receiving votes in the national poll with Northern Michigan (GLIAC) in the two-day span.
Reigning Great Midwest tourney champion Cedarville (9-10, 7-2 G-MAC) is the No. 4 seed representing the league. The Yellow Jackets drew Wisconsin Parkside and McKendree from the GLVC along with a rematch of last year’s crossover vs. Wayne State (MI).
First-year league newcomer Lake Erie (13-6, 7-3 G-MAC) comes to Aurora as the No. 5 seed. The Storm remain in the hunt for an East Division title and recently beat Findlay in cross-divisional action. LEC faces another team getting votes in the national poll (Drury) while also meeting Illinois Springfield and Indianapolis – all GLVC programs.
No. 6 G-MAC seed Kentucky Wesleyan (9-12, 5-5 G-MAC) took a break from the Crossover in 2016, but the Panthers went 2-1 in 2015 at the event by beating Lake Superior State and Lake Erie. KWC will square off against Quincy, Ashland and William Jewell.
Coming off a perfect week against the West Division from the East is No. 7 Davis & Elkins (6-11, 4-5 G-MAC). The Senators swept both respective conference opponents in straight sets and now get ready for Northwood, Missouri S&T and UMSL.
Ohio Dominican (3-15, 2-7 G-MAC) enters the tournament as the Great Midwest No. 8 seed. The Panthers have conference wins against Ursuline and Trevecca in their season as a league member; ODU turns its focus to Missouri S&T, William Jewell and Lake Superior State in order.
Rounding out the top-nine seeding is Ohio Valley (6-12, 2-8 G-MAC) as the Fighting Scots continue to make strides under first-year coach Marlon Sano. OVU’s weekend matchups include Maryville, Truman State and Southern Indiana – all GLVC member schools.
