INDIANAPOLIS – Offensive, defensive and special teams recognition, from the ninth week of the season for Great Midwest Athletic Conference Football Players of the Week was announced on Monday morning.
Week 9 was another one filled with intrigue as No. 22 Findlay and Ohio Dominican matched each other again to remain tied at the top of the conference standings. The Oilers routed Malone in a Thursday night affair while ODU weathered out some chilly temperatures on Saturday under the lights to beat Walsh.
Week 11 is circled on the calendar to finish the regular season with the decisive conference championship showdown between Findlay (8-1, 5-0 G-MAC) and Ohio Dominican (5-3, 5-0 G-MAC) in Columbus.
Findlay extended its win streak to seven straight while hoping to enhance its position in the NCAA Super Region One rankings while Ohio Dominican has now won five consecutive games.
Lake Erie (2-6, 2-3 G-MAC) won its second league game after putting up 45 points against Kentucky Wesleyan (2-6, 1-4 G-MAC) on the road. The Storm gained 309 yards of rushing and a swarming defense forced three turnovers.
Hillsdale (5-4, 3-2 G-MAC) and Alderson Broaddus (2-7, 1-4 G-MAC) had entertaining clash in Philippi on the Battlers’ Senior Day. AB jumped out to a 21-7 lead in the first quarter before Hillsdale charged back. Factored into HC’s fifth win of the season was a 97-yard fumble return for a score and a few more superlatives for standout receiver Trey Brock.
