LEXINGTON, Ky. - Findlay shed the label of ‘receiving votes’ to represent the Great Midwest Athletic Conference in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Top-25 Poll that was released on Monday afternoon.
The West Division-leading Oilers (15-1) round out the poll at No. 25, one week after receiving 60 votes for a ranking of 27th.
This is the first time the Findlay volleyball program has been nationally ranked since 2006. The Oilers also qualified for the NCAA Championship Midwest Regional in 2016 before joining the Great Midwest.
Findlay started this season reeling off 10 consecutive wins. After a five-set hiccup against Flagler, the Oilers are rolling again on a five-match win streak.
At 8-0 in the West, Findlay has its eyes set on a divisional crown and hosting the 2017 Great Midwest Championship in Croy Gymnasium.
Findlay leads the conference in opponent hitting percentage, is second in attacking percentage and is second in service aces.
Great Midwest West Players of the Week Shelby Kin and Amanda Winner rank in the top 10 in hitting percentage while setter Hailee Olson is the current league leader in assists per set (11.05). Libero/defensive specialist Kara Scherger also ranks second in digs per set (4.95).
