INDIANAPOLIS – Fresh off of being the first Great Midwest Athletic Conference football team to be ranked in the AFCA Top 25, Findlay also made an appearance in the first NCAA Super Region One Ranking that was published Monday.
The Oilers are 7-1 overall with a 4-0 league record, tied for first in the conference standings with Ohio Dominican.
Findlay has won six straight as it discovered the program was ranked No. 22 to help shake up the AFCA national poll with three games left in the regular season.
The Oilers are fourth in Super Region One comprised of teams from the Mountain East Conference (MEC), Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10).
Undefeated PSAC institution Indiana (PA) tops Super Region One followed by Assumption (NE-10) and Shepherd (MEC). A total of 10 teams were ranked as Slippery Rock (PSAC) followed Findlay along with West Chester (PSAC), Kutztown (PSAC), Notre Dame (OH) (MEC), Shippensburg (PSAC) and LIU Post (NE-10) represented Super Region One.
The top seven schools out of four different super regions will qualify for the college football playoffs in the NCAA DII Championship bracket.
The 2017 DII Football Championship is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 16, at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan.
