INDIANAPOLIS
– Findlay and Hillsdale take center stage as part of the NCAA Division II Football Showcase on ESPN3 (via the WatchESPN app) to headline Week 7 action in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference schedule on Saturday.

Some of the brightest Great Midwest stars will be on display Saturday at Frank “Muddy” Waters Stadium for all the fans to see. Findlay (5-1, 2-0 G-MAC) and Hillsdale (3-3, 1-1 G-MAC) will kick off at 1 p.m. ET.

The tale of the tape starts with Hillsdale’s Great Midwest Offensive Players of the Week Chance Stewart (Week 5) and Trey Brock (Week 4) forming one of the deadliest quarterback-to-receiver tandems in the country. Brock set a single-game conference record last week with 13 receptions against Ohio Dominican.

Brock is tied for the league lead in receptions (49) with Ohio Dominican’s Cory Contini and has 767 yards receiving, tops in the Great Midwest. Stewart averages over 287 yards of total offense per game and if he can get in a rhythm, is hard to slow down moving his team down the field.

Leading tackler Wyatt Batdorff averages over eight stops per game and the Chargers come in ranked second only to Findlay in both scoring offense and defense.

The Oilers blew up for another single-game team scoring record with 63 points in Week 6 against Lake Erie. Findlay is looking to move into a tie for first in the conference standings with a win and keep its four-game win streak intact.

An increasingly appetizing Week 11 matchup looming against Ohio Dominican to close out the regular season could be that much more significant for a championship run with the outcome of this game.

Findlay has outscored its opponents in conference play by an incredible 110-6 combined score. The Oilers lead the league with 46.8 points game and allow just 14 points per game defensively, another league-leading total.

UF has a ballhawking secondary patrolled by Aaron Ivory (2 INT’s for TD’s), Francis Cutchember and Chiebuka Chukweneke.

Controlling the ground game is going to be a priority for both teams as veteran workhorses Daouda Sylla (Findlay) and David Graham (Hillsdale) each have 10 rushing touchdowns average over six yards per carry. Findlay’s Michael Campbell has also rumbled for eight rushing scores in five games.

An intriguing matchup takes place between Alderson Broaddus (2-4, 1-1 G-MAC) and Walsh (1-5, 1-1 G-MAC) with both teams coming off wins in Week 6. AB was able to edge Malone on its final drive of the game while Walsh was able to generate offensive rhythm with a 56-point showing against Kentucky Wesleyan.

Walsh tailback Antwand Wilson was one of three players to score three TD’s rushing in Week 6 (Sylla, Graham). The Cavaliers only attempted five passes vs. Kentucky Wesleyan while controlling the ground game.

Week 6 Offensive Player of the Week Zach Chandler beat Malone with his arm and legs with four passing touchdowns in his first career start. He found Zack Lake with 11 seconds left on the clock to break a 24-24 tie to effectively answer a Malone scoring drive.

Malone (0-5, 0-2 G-MAC) will play host to Kentucky Wesleyan (1-4, 0-2 G-MAC) at the Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton as the Pioneers continue to bid for their first win of the season.

Ohio Dominican will sit this week out with a bye with a perfect 3-0 record in league games. Also idle for Week 7 is Lake Erie.
