INDIANAPOLIS - Alderson Broaddus freshman forward Malik Bocook was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week on Monday.
Bocook played a large part in two wins for Alderson Broaddus this past week, inching the Battlers closer to .500 overall at 9-10.
On Wednesday, the Battlers played host to Salem International and led for a majority of the game, winning 86-70. Boccok collected a double-double for the Battlers with a team-high 23 points (9-12 FG, 3-4 3-PT FG) and 12 rebounds.
Bocook also added three assists, two blocks, and three steals in 40 minutes to his stat sheet.
On Saturday, Alderson Broaddus hit the road and emerged with a big conference win at Davis & Elkins. Bocook had yet another solid game, collecting his second double-double in as many tries, scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Bocook also added five assists and two steals in 39 minutes to wrap up a very solid weekend for him and the Battlers.
Against SIU and D&E, Bocook averaged 16.5 points, 11 rebounds, and 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals.
Since joining AB, the Battlers have been rolling at 8-3. Bocook is averaging 16.1 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game as a rookie.
