INDIANAPOLIS – Kentucky Wesleyan senior combo guard/forward Jordan Jacks was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week on Monday.
This represents Jacks’ second career weekly honor of the current season and fourth of his career since 2015.
The 23rd-ranked Panthers (16-2, 5-0 G-MAC) flexed their muscle by establishing themselves at the top of the league with win against Davis & Elkins and in a pivotal showdown against Alderson Broaddus.
KWC took sole possession of first place in the conference standings and extended its current win streak to 14 straight in 2016-17. The Panthers handed the Battlers and the Senators their first league losses this season; KWC also strung together a 40-game win streak at home in the Sportscenter while making their case to be moved up in this week's NABC rankings.
Jacks has been the catalyst for consistency on another loaded squad, averaging a double-double with 18 points and 10 boards to go with an efficient high field-goal percentage in the past two games.
Jacks scored 22 points and pulled in 11 rebounds in a Thursday-night win against Davis & Elkins. He made 11-of-17 shots from the field, dished out three assists and had three steals.
In the Saturday affair against Alderson Broaddus, Jacks was one rebound shy of a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. He had four more steals and handed three assists against the Battlers.
On the season, Jacks is the current league leader in field goal percentage and is tied for third in both scoring and rebounding. His 15.22 points per game since joining KWC is ranked 10th in conference history and he has 746 points in less than two seasons heading into the new week. Jacks also has a .585 field goal percentage, currently fifth-best in the G-MAC records. His clip of 8.47 rebounds per contest ranks third all-time.
Jacks now has 21 total double-doubles since joining KWC from Shorter College as a junior transfer.
