GREENWOOD, Ind. - Ursuline senior middle blocker Emily Adkinson has been named the first Great Midwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Athlete of the Week for the fall on Tuesday.

After suffering a season-ending injury in last year's home opener, Adkinson returned to the floor in dominant fashion as the Arrows won three of four to begin the new season.

Ursuline traveled to compete in the Indiana University-Pennsylvanian Crimson Hawk Tournament. The Arrows had four matches during the tournament and went 3-1.

In Adkinson's first match back in the season opener, she had 10 kills on 24 attempts.

In the remaining three matches of the tournament, she added 37 more kills to a weekend total of 47. She also finished the weekend with 17 blocks and a match-high eight blocks against Holy Family.

She would average 3.36 kills per set, 1.21 blocks per set and 0.71 digs per set, while hitting to the tune of a .288 percentage.

Ursuline will take on multiple opponents at the Kentucky Wesleyan Invitational on Sept. 9-10 in Owensboro later this week.
