G-MAC Volleyball Athlete of the Week (Sept. 26)

9.26.16

GREENWOOD, Ind. - Trevecca Nazarene senior outside hitter/middle blocker Katelyn Atkinson was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Athlete of the Week on Monday.

This marks the sixth G-MAC Athlete of the Week honor for Atkinson in her accomplished career.

The Trojans (8-6, 2-0 G-MAC) got out of the gates fast in the conference schedule to defend their 2015 tournament title, embarking on a tough road trip to grit out wins at Ursuline and storm back from a two-set deficit at Malone.

Atkinson's fingerprints were all over both wins as well as a three-set sweep against Maryville earlier in the week for a regional victory. She would average 4.75 kills per set on the week while hitting .264.

Atkinson recorded two double-doubles and is currently second all-time in the G-MAC in career kills and digs. She also ranks in the top 10 in service aces.

Atkinson has accumulated 144 kills this season, which has helped her to achieve becoming the all-time kill leader in TNU history. Also, as of two weeks ago, Atkinson led all active NCAA Division II volleyball players in kills.
