GREENWOOD, Ind. - Three more selections were made as the newest Great Midwest Athletic Conference Football Players of the Week were announced on Monday following the fourth week of the season.
All three G-MAC teams were in action this past week as Alderson Broaddus faced Fairmont State on national television (ESPN3), Malone traveled to Division I FCS opponent Robert Morris (PA) and Kentucky Wesleyan played host to UIndy.
G-MAC Offensive Player of the Week
#11 John Iacucci
Malone University
Quarterback
Redshirt Sophomore
North Chili, NY
Iacucci nearly navigated the Pioneers to an upset win on the road, calmly tossing for over 250 yards and a pair of scores while completing 19-of-32 pass attempts.
Despite a 21-19 final in favor of the Colonials, Iacucci and Malone engineered a scoring drive late in regulation capped by a two-yard strike to Ashton Dulin. Even though the two-point conversion was no good, Malone still had plenty of good things to take away from this game.
Iacucci also threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to junior running back Matt Blasiole in the third quarter as Malone scored the final 13 points of the game.
Iacucci now has a completion percentage of over 55 percent directing the offense to go with four touchdowns and 879 yards passing. His efficiency rating of 125.5 through four games also leads the league.
G-MAC Defensive Player of the Week
#5 Michael James
Alderson Broaddus University
Safety
Senior
Woodbridge, VA
The playmaking James had a tendency to be around the ball against Fairmont State, racking up 14 total tackles, including two for a loss.
In addition, he made his second interception of the season (and 14th of his career) in the second quarter when he picked off Fairmont State quarterback Cooper Hibbs to halt a Falcons' drive.
James' 14 tackles is a single-game high around all players in the G-MAC this season. He had six solo stops and eight assisted tackles.
G-MAC Special Teams Player of the Week
#31 Marcus Moeller
Malone University
Kicker/Punter
Redshirt Sophomore
Denmark
For the second time this year, Moeller garnered weekly special teams conference honors after kicking a pair of field goals and averaging over 40 yards per punt against Robert Morris.
Moeller cashed in for field goals from 26 and 29 yards out.
The redshirt sophomore is now 7-for-8 on PAT's and 5-of-7 on all field goal tries this year.
