Full USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Release
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Six student-athletes from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference received the 2016 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Individual Award.
The organization announced Janelle Perry of Ursuline along with Hailey Bredeson, Olivia Esbenshade, Sarah Hoffman, Carsyn Koch and Lyndsey Smith -- all from Cedarville -- were selected as recipients.
New G-MAC member institution Malone University also was represented on the USTFCCCA list with six total selections, including four women (Crystal Barber, Taryn Chapman, Erika Rector, Hannah Campbell) and two men (Mark Butler, Ryan Roush).
A total of 483 women in NCAA Division II from 117 institutions earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for their combined academic and athletic accomplishments.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have reached a provisional or automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships in either the indoor or outdoor seasons.
Thirty-one different women recorded a cumulative GPA of 4.0, including 12 seniors.
In addition, Cedarville's men's and women's track and field programs and Ursuline's women's squad were officially part of the 2016 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team. Both Malone's men's and women's track and field programs were also part of the distinguished list.
A total of 117 women’s teams and 66 men’s teams earned the distinction as a result of earning a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or higher.
