Cedarville’s Connor Gilmour Named G-MAC Male Athlete of the Year

GREENWOOD, Ind. - Cedarville men’s soccer standout Connor Gilmour was officially announced as the 2016 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Male Athlete of the Year on Tuesday.

Voting for the 2016 G-MAC Male Athlete of the Year award was conducted by athletic administrators from each school around the league.

Gilmour’s scoring prowess was on display once again in a stellar fall season as the Yellow Jackets enjoyed conference and regional success in the national tournament while representing the G-MAC.

The talented forward from Warren, Ohio, is an absolute nightmare for opponents on the pitch. He will have one final year of eligibility remaining after completing his senior year in 2015.
 
Gilmour and the Yellow Jackets went 15-4-2 overall with a 10-2-0 conference mark in the fall. He helped lead Cedarville to the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Championship Midwest Regional.
 
Cedarville won its opening-round contest against No. 5 Quincy, the first team win in the national tournament regional (outside of the baseball/softball format) for any G-MAC program in the league’s young history.
 
Gilmour was the league leader in points (37), points per game (1.76), goals (17), goals per game (0.81) and shots (67) while playing all 21 games.
 
He also further established himself at the top of several career categories in 61 games spanning 2013-15.
 
Gilmour ranks first in the G-MAC in career points (97), goals (43) and shots (208). He is currently tied for third in assists with 11.
 
The G-MAC coaches selected him as G-MAC Offensive Player of the Year for the second time in his accomplished career (2014).
 
Gilmour was rewarded for his efforts on the field with NSCAA Third-Team All-American honors. He was also selected as Third Team CCA DII All-American and made each organization’s respective all-region teams.
 
Cedarville received a total of three G-MAC postseason awards to polish off the 2015-16 academic year: G-MAC Female Athlete of the Year (Carsyn Koch), G-MAC Male Athlete of the Year (Gilmour) and G-MAC Male Collegiate Achievement Award (Benjamin Tuttle).
