2016 G-MAC Women’s Golf All-Conference Team Announced

5.4.16

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The complete Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Golf All-Conference Team for the 2015-16 season was officially released on Wednesday.

Five individuals automatically secured their spot on the all-conference team while another five deserving student-athletes were added following a vote by the league’s coaches after the G-MAC Championship.

Leading this year’s all-conference team was Trevecca Nazarene junior Alexa Rippy, who reeled in medalist and G-MAC Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive time.

The Trojans also completed their postseason run with a seventh-place tie at the NCAA Division II East Super Regional in Springfield, Ill.

Additional individual awards were announced for rising Alderson Broaddus first-year student-athlete Savannah Jackson (G-MAC Freshman of the Year) and Trevecca Nazarene’s David Head (G-MAC Coach of the Year)

Great Midwest Athletic Conference: Coach of the Year
DAVID HEAD – Trevecca Nazarene University

Since his arrival, Head has helped steer the Trojans to a pair of G-MAC Championship trophies and two NCAA Championship Super Regional appearances (2015 as an at-large for Alexa Rippy as an individual, 2016 as an AQ). The team started the season with team titles in the first four matches of this fall season. Head and his team opened up the spring season just as successful, winning the first three events of the spring season. A strong senior class will be missed, but his recruiting prowess will be on display as TNU tries to make it five straight conference titles next season.

Great Midwest Athletic Conference: Freshman of the Year
SAVANNAH JACKSON – Alderson Broaddus - Freshman

Jackson was a standout player on the Battlers while leading her team in scoring in several matches during the fall and spring seasons. She was in contention for medalist honors at the end of the first round of the G-MAC Championship, rising on the leaderboard trailing only Rippy. Jackson would still finish in the top 10 of her first conference tournament, placing eighth overall at Four Bridges Country Club. Her emergence means she will be one to keep an eye on in the near future.

Great Midwest Athletic Conference: Player of the Year
ALEXA RIPPY – Trevecca Nazarene University - Junior

Rippy’s dominant run in the G-MAC extended all the way through her junior season. In addition to medalist honors at the conference tournament again, she was the first TNU golfer to finish a round under par. Rippy posted a share of nine of the top-10 single-round scores in the G-MAC this season.
