All-Conference Awards

CEDARVILLE, Ohio –
Cedarville was pronounced the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship title winner for the third year in a row following the two-day event.

The Yellow Jackets toppled the four-team men’s race with 246 points.

But Alderson Broaddus (147 points), Kentucky Wesleyan (100 points and Trevecca Nazarene (86 points), continue to close the gap with improvement and their efforts will keep the margin for team scores that much closer each year.

In particular, Kentucky Wesleyan rising freshman tandem Dallan Goldring and James Glenn stole the show and caught the attention of the league’s coaches.

Glenn was presented with G-MAC Track Athlete of the Year and Goldring earned G-MAC Freshman of the Year as they excelled in several events.

G-MAC Field Athlete of the Year honors went to Cedarville’s Jonathan Scouten, a double winner after winning indoor recognition for the same award. The Yellow Jackets' Jeff Bolender also added another trophy to his extensive collection with another selection as G-MAC Coach of the Year.

Various meet records across the board impressively fell for both genders despite relentless rain that came down on Saturday. The typical short-sleeve gear for an outdoor meet was replaced by leggings, jackets and umbrellas, as student-athletes tried to stay dry.

A total of six meet records were broken and an additional standard was tied.

Events with new best times or distances included the shot put (Scouten), discus (Scouten), triple jump (Goldring), 10K race (Logan Rodgers), 1,500-meter run (Daniel Michalski) and 800-meter run (Tim De Jong).

Glenn tied the 100-meter dash G-MAC Outdoor Championship record of 10.94 now shared with Darin Gooch (Central State) back in 2015.

AB’s 4x100-meter relay unit was also just 0.14 of a second away from being the meet record holder. The Battlers’ Paris Vaughan won the 110-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles and was second in pole vault.
