LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Trevecca Nazarene senior Haley Fagan was named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Pitcher of the Week for games played March 28-April 3 the association announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Fagan becomes the first Great Midwest Athletic Conference softball student-athlete to receive the national weekly recognition from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Shouldering the workload for the Trojans in a four-game sweep of Cedarville, Fagan did not allow a run and struck out 40 in 27 innings of work.
The Cornersville, Tenn., native started off with a bang, no-hitting the Yellow Jackets in the series opener with 11 strikeouts and three walks for her fourth no-no of the season.
She closed out the four-game G-MAC series set with one-hit masterpiece, fanning a week-high 13 batters.
Fagan added a four-hit shutout with 11 Ks prior to her one-hitter and tossed six scoreless innings in game two of series in which she surrendered one hit and two walks with five strikeouts.
The right-hander scattered six hits over her 27 innings of work, holding her opponents to a .069 batting average. She was just one hit away in two other games of the Cedarville series from spinning additional no-hitters.
At the time of release from 2014 through the season to date, Fagan is the G-MAC’s career leader in ERA (1.67), wins (60), opponent batting average (.206), total appearances (88), games started (81), complete games (63), shutouts (20), innings pitched (539.1) and strikeouts (512).
Her dominant career has resulted in two selections as the G-MAC Pitcher of the Year (2014, 2015).
Trevecca Nazarene currently leads the G-MAC standings at 12-2 and is sporting a 28-14 overall record.
On the season, Fagan is 21-10 with a 2.04 ERA in 32 total games pitched in. She has 20 complete games, six shutouts and has fanned 191 hitters in just over 196 innings of work. She has also earned G-MAC Pitcher of the Week selections four different times this spring.
The NFCA National Player of the Week was Humboldt State sophomore Hanna Holland.
