G-MAC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week (April 4)

4.5.16

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Cedarville freshman thrower Jonathan Scouten was named the fourth Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week for 2016 on Monday.

Scouten and the Yellow Jackets continued their outdoor season as they took third place (of 18) at the Centre College Track and Field Invitational this past weekend.

This is Scouten’s first time securing a G-MAC Athlete of the Week honor in his first year at Cedarville. He is coming off a strong indoor campaign that resulted in G-MAC Field Athlete of the Year accolades.

Scouten led his team in all three throwing events this past weekend and secured three top performances around the conference for the current outdoor season.

Starting with the hammer throw, Scouten threw 40.74 meters, which placed him ninth in that event.

Scouten came back for more as he led his team once again in shot put. He nailed a third-place spot after heaving an attempt of 13.98 meters.

For his last event, he continued his success as he threw 43.73 meters in discus to land him fourth.

Scouten and his Yellow Jackets continue their season this weekend as they look to compete in the All-Ohio Championship in Athens, Ohio, on April 8.
