G-MAC Softball Athletes of the Week (April 11)

4.11.16

GREENWOOD, Ind. - Trevecca Nazarene senior catcher Jordan Griner and Ursuline junior pitcher Brittany Humbel were named the 11th set of Great Midwest Athletic Conference Softball Athletes of the Week on Monday.

Griner’s value extends more than just the noise she made with the bat against Ohio Valley/Kentucky Wesleyan in two weather-shortened series for the G-MAC-leading Trojans.

The senior backstop is the battery mate for the reigning NFCA National Division II Pitcher of the Week Haley Fagan.

Humbel was lights out in four games against Alderson Broaddus and helped her own cause at the plate with timely hitting as the Arrows moved to 6-8 in the league schedule.

She also had a double and scored three runs while drawing one walk. Griner came up with two of TNU’s five homers hit in the series.

The Trojans needed her two-run shot in the top half of the third inning against Ohio Valley in a tight 9-7 final. She drilled a two-run, two-out blast that gave TNU a 6-2 lead.

In the first game against OVU, Griner keyed a five-run second inning with a three-run homer as the Trojans rolled to an 8-0 final in six. Her five home runs on the season rank tied for fifth in the league with Alderson Broaddus’ Brianna Burger.
